Pics in the crib
I meant to post these pics with yesterday's blog, but my camera was acting up on me! Here are a couple of pics of Aubrey's first night in the crib! She is losing her hair, which makes me so sad! She likes to wedge herself up into the corner, which is so funny to me!

Letting Go
Rod and I finally let go of having Aubrey in our room last night! She has been in our room for the last 3 months, so we figured it was time. I didn't think Aubrey would ever give her crib a chance! Everytime I would lay her down, she would immediately start crying. It took me putting a quilt as well as another blanket on top of her sheet for her to be comfortable with it. Aubrey does not like the mattress! I now know Aubrey likes to sleep on soft things. Of course I am making excuses, Rod and I both liked having her right there with us. We both woke up around 3:30 am to check on her. She did great! Now she is down for the second night in a row! I still prefer her to be in our room, but I knew we couldn't keep her there forever . I am now working on getting her to bed at a more reasonable time, and more independent of me. We will see how it goes. One thing at a time!

New Pics of Aubrey and Kate
Aubrey and Kate had pictures made on Wednesday. We had them done at Portrait Innovations. They turned out so cute, I had to share a few of them. There are lots more, but I couldn't show them all! Aubrey was done way before Kate was, so there were lots of crying pictures of Aubrey. The poor thing was tired and hungry, not to mention getting over a cold. I am hoping she gets over that soon. I didn't realize a little baby could lose her voice, till Aubrey got this cold. It makes me sad! People kept asking us if they were twins, which cracked me up. The photographer even got them confused in some of the pictures. These girls seem to be looking more and more alike. The funny thing is, everyone seems to think they look more like our husbands, and our husbands don't look alike at all! Who knows!

Moms and Proud Grandparents
There are two things I should of added to my list of things that I appreciate even more, now that I am a parent. Those are, experienced moms and proud grandparents. If you are reading this, and you are an experienced mom, then I probably have already asked you a question or two about parenting a baby. I am not afraid to ask questions! It makes me feel better to know that someone has tried something that works. Anyways, I also love proud grandparents. A parent loves to feel that others are proud of their child too. Words of encouragement go a long way with me. I still remember when my dad(Papa) said, "She sure is pretty." When we were in Longview Rod's mom (Mimi), was walking around with Aubrey and she replied to someone, "She's mine. She's my granddaughter." Rod's dad, (Papi) said, "She is going to be the cutest baby in the nursery." My mom (Nana) said, "She gets the best sleeper award out of all the grandchildren." I love it! These comments all made my heart melt! I took these pictures of Aubrey yesterday, and she looked so cute, I had to share them!

Traveling
Traveling has brought on an entire new meaning to me now. Before going anywhere I have to consider when Aubrey ate last, napped last, had her last dirty diaper, etc...Rod and I had our first trip to Longview a couple of weeks ago, and who knew that a baby would need so much stuff for just a couple of nights. We had to take his truck to accomodate everything. I was a little nervous about the car ride, but she did okay. I sat in the back with her. Our dog Maggie sat in the front with Rod. Aubrey isn't the biggest fan of her car seat. She does better if someone is back there with her. I don't know where she gets her need to be around people all the time. Ha Ha! I really don't think there is anything more stressful than trying to drive with a crying baby in the back seat. You feel completely helpless as the driver. We have had a good week in the car though, so I am hoping it continues. Being a mom has made me appreciate things more than I did before. Here are some of them in no particular order.

1) A long shower
2) A quiet car ride
3) Jon and Kate Plus 8
4) A poopy diaper
5)) Happy hour at Sonic
6) A clean house
7) My family
8) Cooler weather
9) A trip to the grocery store by myself
10) Dinner alone with my husband
11) A baby's smile(It's the best thing in the world when your baby smiles at you!)
12) Baby clothes in general
13) Baby sounds
14) Nursing rooms
15) Sleep
There is much more, but those are the first things that come to mind! I have been bad about updating the blog, so I have many pictures of some exciting things that have been going on in Cox World!
A visit from Mimi and Papi (Rod's parents)
First trip to the movies

No more Soothie pacifiers!

First trip to the grocery store!

I couldn't resist putting these two boppy pictures on the blog. They are too cute for words!

This was the first night Aubrey slept in a crib! This was in Longview. It was also Rod's crib when he was a baby. His mom made all the bedding. Isn't she talented? I love this picture of baby holding baby!
Aubrey and Aunt Candice (This is the backyard Rod grew up with. Isn't it beautiful?)
