Random Bits of Laughter and More

There has been a lot of celebrating going on around the Cox Household lately. Rod turned 30, Aubrey turned 7 months, and Aubrey started crawling! My life has definitely gotten crazier, now that she can get places! I am learning quickly what needs to be moved elsewhere.
As far as Rod's birthday, as you all know, he doesn't like being the center of attention. So, I tried to keep things low key for him. We did have a Tate celebration for him at Sammy's BBQ, and the entire place clapped after we sang to him. It was quite funny. The best part was, my brother-in-law (Micheal) started yelling SPEECH, SPEECH after we were done singing! Of course I had to chime in too! Rod wouldn't of stood up to give a speech for anything, but it sure was fun giving him a hard time. Not to mention, many of us in the family will raise our hands up and shout "Rod, Rod, Rod" just to give him attention in situations. This was one of those times. You know I love you Rod! I can't wait to spend the next 30 years with you! For his birthday, I gave him the Playstation 3, which he is already enjoying!
For those of you who have known Tami and I awhile, you know we have a tendency to laugh at random things. Often times people don't understand what we think is so funny. I can't explain our sense of humor! We usually find things funny that we can relate to, or at times when we shouldn't be laughing. Which is why Tami and I were often in trouble during pledging in college! We were constantly laughing at things that were supposed to be serious. I'm sorry, but seeing other people take it so seriously made me laugh! We ended up becoming good friends with Holly Mock during this time, because she didn't take any of it too seriously! I love you Holly! (I'll be honest though, there were many tearful moments in pledging on my part as well.)
At Rod's first hockey game, the people behind us kept spilling beer on Rod and many other people. I looked over and saw Rod covered with beer. This was certainly not funny to Rod at all, but when I looked over and saw beer dripping from his head, I couldn't help but laugh. I am sure he really appreciated the fact that Tami and I were laughing uncontrollably. It's contagious too. You know how it is. All that to say, I think Aubrey has a similar sense of humor. She laughs at the funniest things. She just looks at Maggie and laughs all the time. She especially thinks it's funny when Maggie chews on her ball. Why, I don't know! I sure do appreciate it though! Here is some video footage of her crawling, and laughing at Maggie, 7 month pics, as well as some pics of Rod's Birthday!

Aubrey's Half Birthday!

Okay, this is a little late, but I've had a lot going on! I wanted this post to be all about Aubrey! She celebrated her Half Birthday on December 25th! Aubrey,
You are a precious to your Mommy and Daddy! We love you so much! You have taught us both how to love in a way we didn't know was possible. When I gave birth to you, I cried tears of joy. I am still figuring out this whole parenting thing, but you don't seem to mind. You smile every time I walk into a room, which makes me feel on top of the world. You have helped our faith grow, and we can't wait to help you grow in your faith.
You are so determined, and we love that about you! We know you're going to go places in the world, with determination like that! We love how verbal you are. You have so much to say already! When we are talking to you, you will try your hardest to talk back. You seem serious about it too. It makes our heart melt when you laugh and smile. You brighten up our moods when we are down. You seem to have a great sense of humor!
You absolutely LOVE baths! You kick, laugh and smile the whole time. We really enjoy going through the bedtime routine with you. We love reading you books and praying with you.
Your daddy is really sweet with you. He kisses on you and loves on you constantly. He can't wait for the day he can wrestle with you. He just lights up when he sees you. He is so proud of you and loves showing you off to everyone. He and I would do anything in the world for you.
We can't wait to see what you become in life. We are here for you, no matter what Aubrey! We love you to the moon and back again!
Love,
Mom and Dad

Here is Aubrey trying to talk to me on her special day! She cracks me up!
This was Aubrey after eating zucchini for the first time! Don't be fooled, I don't think she likes it!

I wanted to get some pictures of Aubrey with her 6 month cake, but she definitely didn't get to eat any of it! She wanted to so badly though!

Yummy, she says!

These are just some 6 month pics I took myself, but we actually got some great ones from Kiddie Kandids! I highly recommend them!

Christmas and Papa Cox

It's been awhile since I have blogged, and there has been so much that has happened since then! Aubrey celebrated her half birthday (my next post will be all about it!), we celebrated Christmas and New Years, and sadly Papa Cox lost his battle with cancer. It has been a crazy few weeks. Papa Cox was such a wonderful man, and I learned so much more about him through his death. He loved the Lord so much, and spent many years with Granny Cox going through the whole Bible. We all will miss him, but we also know he is finally at peace with the Lord in what he calls "The Big House." I will never forget his gentle smile, the way he looked at Granny Cox, and the way he held little Aubrey even as his arms were growing weaker. Papa Cox knew he was dying, so he planned most of the funeral out before his death. His faith was evident in the songs he chose, and the the things he said in his last days. At his graveside service, Aubrey was cooing and talking, and it reminded me that the circle of life continues. Here is a picture in memory of him...

As far as Christmas goes, it was fun sharing in it with Aubrey. She cared more about the tissue paper than the gifts themselves, of course! Our Christmas Day was not the best, as Rod and I were fighting a stomach bug, but we will still look back on the day with fond memories. I wanted to share a scary experience with Aubrey opening a gift. I actually say on the video that I will not be keeping the footage, but I couldn't help myself. It makes me laugh now! You have to watch the whole thing through, to know what I am talking about!

Crazy huh?
Here are some of my favorite pics from Christmas! Enjoy!
