Summer in Review Part 2

Moving on to July!!! At the first of July, Aubrey was due for her 4 year checkup. (Note to self, next 4 year check up, Rod needs to come along!) It was not an easy appointment! I did not realize that on top of all the 4 year shots, Aubrey was also going to be due for a blood test, and her hearing and vision screening. Aubrey had asked me before the appointment if she was going to be getting shots. I didn't want to lie about it, so I just told her in truth that she was going to be getting shots. Wow. She did not take the news well. The day of the appointment, she was crying about it from the time she woke up. When we we got to our doctor's office, she was crying in the waiting room the entire time saying, "I don't want to get shots." Once we were in the room I could hardly understand what the nurse was saying. She tried moving on to the vision and hearing screening, but that didn't seem to work either. I wasn't sure we were going to get any of it done, but we did. Aubrey had finally calmed down in the picture below, when she realized we were about to go home. (Notice the bandaids on her leg, and that she is holding on to her precious pink bear?) I am so thankful for her pink bear! Thank you Great Granny Johnston!
4th of July Pictures
Every Fourth of July, in addition to celebrating the holiday, we get to celebrate my sister Keari's birthday too. Happy Birthday Keari! The Fourth of July is always a lot of fun at the Tate House! We traditionally eat burgers, lots of yummy sides, and a cake that looks like a flag. Our afternoon is usually pretty relaxed, and then we head to Grapevine Lake in the early evening to enjoy fireworks, more food, and more fun.

Rod was on hamburger duty! The burgers were yummy! Good job Rod!

I love these sweet, innocent pictures of Aubrey with her pink bear. So precious!

All the kids love playing in the backyard at Nana and Papa's house. They also love jumping on the trampoline too!
Ryleigh is a fearless little thing! Rod was throwing her up in the air here!

Fourth of July cake is yummy!

One of my favorite pictures of Kate and Aubrey! They had so much fun swimming in the lake before the fireworks.

You can do it Aubrey!

I love this girl!

Ryleigh was excited that we had gotten her a little, pink chair to match Aubrey's.

So cute!

Keari typically treats all the kids to glow light necklaces and bracelets before the fireworks. They love it!

Ryleigh was a bigger fan of the fireworks than Aubrey was.

Aubrey went to go sit with Papa for security. He didn't mind that at all!
The girls probably stay up later on the Fourth of July then any other night of the year. It's worth it though!
Musical Theatre: Sleeping Beauty
July 7
Aubrey and I had been to the theatre before to see Winnie the Pooh, and it went great. However, there weren't any characters in the story she was afraid of. My nephews were both in the show, so I was excited to have some time with just her. There was also a Tea Party afterwards, for any of the girls who wanted to meet some of the characters from the play. Aubrey had no interest in that at all! She was very anxious during the entire show, and she wanted to leave as soon as it was over. When any of the actors or actresses came close, she would get so upset. I decided it was best for us to leave and wait for Kate and Tami outside. Will and Kale did a great job performing in the show! I was proud of them.

Aubrey was much calmer here! We probably will take a break from plays for awhile!

Celebrating our Eight Year Anniversary (July 10, 2004)
Westin Hotel: July 7-8
The Westin Hotels are our favorite! You can not beat the heavenly beds! We made our room as cold as possible, and I took a great nap!
The chocolate covered strawberries were yummy!

This was the view from our room. The pool was amazing!

In April of 2003, Rod and I had our first date at the Olive Garden. It's still one of my favorite restaurants today! Rod, I am so glad you asked me out nine years ago! I love you so much, and I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else! Thank you for loving me unconditionally.
Here are the leftovers we took to our room. It makes my hungry just looking at it!

Hanging out at the pool!

Rod enjoyed the complimentary golf!

We ordered room service while we were there. The nachos at the Westin are delicious!

Rod knows I love my Mexican food!

I am grateful we had a night to ourselves to celebrate our anniversary, eat good food, and get good sleep! Lots of fun!

July 9, 2012
We found out we are having another girl! I already posted lots of pictures from this day, so I won't post them again, but I did one to post at least one! As I get closer and closer to my due date, I grow more and more excited about us having a family of girls. I love being a Mom to my girls, and I can't imagine it any other way.

Nail Painting Party! Aubrey was so excited about the stickers I added to her nails this time! She looked so cute!

Ryleigh's first time to get her nails done! Is she precious or what?

Enjoying a hot summer day with Cold Stone Ice Cream! Yummy!
I didn't realize how big the kid size portions were, so we ended up with lots of  leftovers!

I think she likes it!

Dallas Summer Musicals
July 18-Peter Pan
Unfortunately, I had already bought tickets for Aubrey and I to see Peter Pan, before our experience at Sleeping Beauty. I tried to prepare her with what to expect, but she wasn't super thrilled about the idea. Tam and I both love Mexican food, so we took the girls out to Abuelos before the show.  Our girls love Mexican food too, so it was a treat.
Aubrey and Kate looked so cute!
The first part of the musical went pretty well, but at the end of the first half, there was a loud noise that scared Aubrey. She had no interest in going back after that. Tam and I shared a drink with the girls at intermission, and some candy too! Aubrey and I watched the rest of the show on a screen outside the theater. It wasn't as good as seeing the show live, but I felt like we were both still able to enjoy the experience.

Kate and Aubrey quickly took over finishing up our drinks. They loved having a soft drink all to themselves!

Aubrey and I (And of course pink bear too!) I am still grateful I took her to the musical, even though she didn't seem to like it all that much. On the way home Aubrey said, "Mommy, where was Jingle Bell?" (Also know as Tinkerbell) I found it so funny that she asked that! In the musical Tinkerbell is never shown, she's just a little light that moves all over the stage.

Family Wedding
July 26
Aubrey had not been to a wedding since she was very little, and Ryleigh had never been to one before. The girls looked so cute in their dresses! They both did very well staying quiet in the wedding, and they had a great time dancing and eating all the delicious food.  They also got to stay up extra late! It was fun seeing how Aubrey reacted to it all, now that she is old enough to understand a little more about what is going on.

It was great seeing family that we had not seen in awhile. We all had a wonderful time!

Summer in Review Part 1/Aubrey's 4th B-Day

We had such a fun, eventful summer and I can't believe it's over! The first of June we went to Legoland at Grapevine Mills Mall. It was amazing to see all the creations from LEGOS! I was impressed. Ryleigh enjoyed it too, but it took Aubrey some time to warm up to the idea. When we first got there, there was a giant lego man walking around, and it absolutely terrified Aubrey. She didn't want to get out of the stroller or have anything to do with the lego ride there. She was even pulling the visor over her face to make her feel more protected. She came around though, and  enjoyed it before we left.

Aubrey in her safe place

I love it when Ryleigh smiles her big smile!

I love this picture of Kate and Ryleigh! Kate has always been so nurturing to Ryleigh.

After we had been there awhile, Aubrey finally warmed up to it all.

I knew she would have fun, once she felt comfortable getting out and exploring all there was to offer. Good job Aubrey!

One of my best friends (Liz) delivered her fourth baby, and third baby girl. Evie is precious! It was neat to see Ryleigh and Aubrey around her. The girls had not been around a baby her size in awhile. Ryleigh was so sweet and referred to her as "my baby".
All of Liz's babies are born with a ton of hair! It's amazing!

My Dad was sworn in as Mayor in June. We were all proud of him!

I was so excited to be able to put both of the girls hair into ponytails! They looked so cute! I think Ryleigh's hair is longer than Aubrey's!

Our summer has definitely arrived when we get out our blow up pool! The girls always love splashing around in it, and it's big enough for Rod and I too!

Swim lessons began in June! The first lesson went great, but during the second lesson Aubrey became really nervous about jumping in and swimming to the wall. By the third lesson she was not real happy about going, and luckily her instructor let her "froggy dive" instead of jumping in. Aubrey had been crying everytime we brought up lessons, so I felt so bad about it! I knew we needed to stick it out though, and by the last lesson Aubrey jumped in by herself. I was so proud of her!

Ryleigh is wanting to know when her turn is!

Tam and I started Aubrey and Kate in a class this summer that introduces all the different sports, and is mainly just meant to be fun. The girls loved being in the class together, and often times would be doing the same thing at the same time. They got rather silly at times too, but they had a good time.

Also in June, our friends Colton and Sadie came to visit! We were determined to enjoy the splash park, despite the rain! (I guess that's why the picture turned out so blurry.) Jenny and I always love a chance to get caught up too! Unfortunately, our plans of having lots of hang out time got cut short. Aubrey got the stomach bug that night, and it was miserable! We went through all the sheets, and got very little sleep. I don't think Jenny got much sleep either! Rod ended up catching it too; I felt bad for both of them.

First snow cone of the summer! Yay! Aubrey and Ryleigh filled up their jar of "warm fuzzies" and that was their choice for a reward. (I may have tried to lean them in that direction a little bit)

Yummy!

These girls love dressing up! They showed up at my bedroom door wearing hats, and I thought they looked adorable!
We were out practicing swimming, to help Aubrey feel more comfortable at lessons.
More practice with Kate!

Tam and I were able to enjoy swimming with the older ones, while Rod and Zack watched Ryleigh and Carly. We had a great time!

First time to the Frisco Splash Park for the summer! Aubrey and Ryleigh were able to splash around with some of their friends too, which was fun!
Dress up and books, is there anything better?

Aubrey's 4th Birthday Party! (June 16)

Tam and I decided to combine Kate and Aubrey's party again this year, and we had the best time! We rented out an outdoor rec center in Plano, so we had it all to ourselves! It was so nice! The sky was a little overcast too, which made the temperature perfect. There were also lifeguards on duty, which was comforting!

My Brother In Law's sister made an incredible Memory Box in honor of Marabeth. We also had donations that were given in her honor at the party. I wasn't expecting to get emotional when I saw it, but I sure did cry! I had not seen her little gown in awhile, and it was sweet seeing some things that made her birth special.

Happy Birthday girls!(Don't you love Aubrey's bright orange ear plugs?)

I thought Aubrey, Ryleigh and Darby looked so cute in their matching swim suits!

What a memorable, fun day!
Father's Day(June 17)
Rod, You are such an incredible father! The girls and I are lucky to have you in our lives. You are an amazing father, husband and friend. We love you! There is no doubt who these girls belong to! You have definitely earned the title Father to the two of them!

I love this dress! It was the dress Aubrey wore to her first Princess Ball, as well as the same dress that she wore for the newborn pictures we had done after Ryleigh came home. So cute!

This was the last time we had a celebration at my parents house that Ryleigh sat in the high chair. From this point on, Ryleigh has started sitting at the little kid table. She has graduated!
Fun times with the cousins!

Aubrey wanted to be next to my Dad while he opened her present. She is such a sweet girl! Happy Father's Day to you too Dad!

VBS 2012 (June 25-28)
I decided I would teach again this year at VBS. I was excited about the opportunity to teach, but I was anxious about Ryleigh and Aubrey being in a classroom setting that many days in a row. Mainly due to the germs they would be exposed to.  Ryleigh ended up having to get on oral steroids at the first of June again, so I only grew more nervous about it.  I decided to stick with my commitment though, and prayed for a healthy week. The girls did great! Ryleigh wasn't real comfortable being dropped off, but she still did well. It was the first time for her to be in class in a very, very long time. Aubrey also wasn't super thrilled about being dropped off, but she also did great!

We were all ready for the first day!

June 25 -Aubrey's Birthday
We have a tradition of going to the Donut Shop on the girls birthday, and letting them pick out donuts! This time Aubrey's birthday fell on the first day of VBS, so we had to get there extra early! I didn't realize they were going to call Aubrey up to the stage to sing to her in front of everyone, so I didn't prepare her. She went up on stage though, and told everyone how old she was with no problem. I know how scary that can be, so I was proud of her for showing so much courage!

Donut Time!

Aubrey's choice for lunch was Chick-fil-A, her favorite!

Opening presents!

To end the day, we took the girls to Baskin Robbins. Aubrey and Ryleigh both got to pick out the flavor of their choice. Aubrey chose cotton candy, and Ryleigh had chocolate chip.
Aubrey,
Another year has gone by, and you are now a four year old! I can't believe it. This year has been eventful hasn't it? I guess I would like to start out by saying I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to be pulled out preschool, I'm sorry you had to experience the loss of a sister, I'm sorry for all the days I spent at the hospital while Ryleigh was sick. At the same time, I am grateful for the ways in which Marabeth has given you a longing for heaven, I'm grateful for all the days I was able to teach you at home, and I am grateful for all the time you were able to spend with your cousins, aunts and grandparents while Ryleigh was sick. I know you have experienced more than what any four year old should, but I sure do love the person that you have become because of it. You pay more attention to details than any person that I have ever met. You notice emotions and feelings in people that I am not aware of. (I used to think that was one of my gifts, until I became a parent to you). I am so glad you are my first born, because you sure are an incredible big sister. The way you look out for Ryleigh truly melts my heart. Watching your relationship grow has been one of my favorite things about being a parent. You are so cautious in your actions, but at the same time, I don't ever have to worry about you being impulsive. You are more anxious than most kids your age, but every decision you make is very thought out. I love being your Mom, and I can't wait to see what this next year brings in your life. Although, you sometimes doubt yourself, you are so much more capable than what you give yourself credit. I truly believe you can conquer whatever you want to in life. Dream big Aubrey, you are one amazing girl. I love you, Mom
Some pictures from their week at VBS
Ryleigh had Mrs. Stacy and Aubrey had Mrs. Tina (Both great teachers!)

Aubrey was in no mood for a picture here. She was not real happy, and was ready to be picked up.

Jam out time! VBS was a success!

The last weekend in June, Aubrey and Ryleigh had a visit from Aunt Candice and Uncle Jose.
They loved all the attention and play time! We all headed to the Splash Park for some fun.

It just doesn't get any cuter than this!

Stay tuned for Summer in Reveiw Part 2!
